As both a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I bring my nursing knowledge and skill to my love for working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or other disorders within the context of an illness, often an illness of a chronic nature. I hold a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in counseling, and doctoral and master’s degrees in nursing. I am not a nurse practitioner, and therefore do not provide medication treatment. I do coordinate with other providers of care involved in a client’s treatment, as appropriate and given permission to do so by the client. My primary theory orientation in counseling is cognitive/behavioral therapy, though I place a high value on a therapeutic alliance relationship, viewing this as key to facilitating health and healing. I hope to facilitate a resurgence of hope for an improved quality of life among those who may not see that in their future.
